About Getting Older
This one is different, and maybe the only one...
Yesterday I turned 31 years old, and somehow I started thinking about life in general. I do not consider myself old, well, not that old, but I might be older mentally than people in my age group.
I had to grow up really quickly, becoming the ‘man of the house’ at around 15 or something and dropping out of college at 19 to get a job and put food on the table. Now that I think about it, I had no other choice, so I don’t blame my family or life or ‘destiny’ or whatever external force of nature you believe in. It just happened.
I just do what I think is good for me and my family, always with a calm that might scare some people. I don’t care what other people think about me, and I don’t desire to become popular or have a lot of friends. I just want to do what I like to do and enjoy time with my wife and my dogs. That’s it. I hate being surrounded by a lot of people, I don’t like to talk with strangers, and I do not enjoy their jokes or discussions about sports or politics.
Like I said, I might be older in my mind, because I have met lots of elderly people with the same attitude as mine.
I don’t know, life is as short as it gets and somehow we have to go through it without a guide, just learning by doing, and it doesn’t matter the good or bad (or sometimes worse), you must keep moving on.
